Macrovision RipGuard Wizard

DVD Copy-Protection Authoring Software

Macrovision, the world leader in digital rights management, had an application that badly needed a facelift to better match their DVD copy protection product line, called RipGuard. RipgGuard had a very well-establish brand identity, but the impact of the brand did not effectively extend beyond printed collateral. It was my job to re-skin their applications by extending the RipGuard brand into the interactive realm.

RipGuard was a series of applications written in the C# language; I had to learn all about Visual Studio .NET very quickly. I needed to be able to edit, place, and manipulate components, graphics, and typography in the Visual Studio development environment.

Since the project also included an HTML-formatted report, my CSS knowledge held me in good stead. I extended the look and feel of the application into HTML and CSS style guides for reports, help files, and other ancillary support files.

Working with a local engineer and a remote client team in the United Kingdom, I finished the project in three weeks. A comprehensive style guide was also produced for future reskinning efforts.
