United Tote EnterBet Illustrations

United Tote is one of the leading providers of networked betting kiosks for pari-mutuel betting. In redesigning their signature EnterBet Express product at Fluid, Inc., I was tasked with illustrating a number of key concepts that helped make their wagering application the best in its industry.

United Tote created personalities, personified algorithms that assist bettors in choosing horses, since the selection of horses can be very statistically complex.

These "virtual handicappers" were all given names, and it was up to me to give faces to the names and the numbers. For example, the elder high-roller chose longshot horses with big payouts, the younger woman chose more frugal "value" bets, and the bookish gentleman chose horses purely on previous winning records. These drawings were all done in Adobe Photoshop, from sketch to completion.

United Tote also released a new kiosk with a variety of hardware interfaces for exchanging vouchers, winning tickets, cash, and account cards; not only did I create all-vector illustrations showing how each hardware interface was used, but I also created the name brand for this new kiosk: ExchangeStation. These illustrations were done entirely in Adobe Illustrator.
